Swimming: Pioneers cruise past Saline in SEC Red dual-meet

Two of the best swimming programs in the state jumped into the pool last week for an SEC Red Division dual-meet and once again Pioneer proved they are head and shoulders above the rest. Pioneer scored an impressive 129-5-56-5 win over the Hornets.

Pioneer’s medley relay team of Stella Chapman, Edwina Jalet, Holly Pringle and Sophia Guo touched first with a time of 1 minute, 47.92 seconds. Pioneer also took second with the team of Bridgette Kamara, Amelia Weyhing, Jeannie Liu and Yan Yee Adler taking second in 1:52.80.

Pioneer went one-two in the 200 free with Lily Cramer taking first (1:52.08) and Autumn Bullinger in second (1:57.59).

In the 200 IM, Adler took first in 2:09.69 followed by Jalet (2:10.13).

Pioneer again took the top two spots in the 50 free with Guo first (24.42) and Weyhing second (25.27).

Pioneer’s Alexandra Mercier was a close second in diving with 252.90 points. Saline’s Alice English was first with 257.85 points.

The Pioneers swept the 100 butterfly with Chapman first (57.47), Eva Woods second (1:00.16) and Pringle third (1:00.17).

Guo won her second race of the day when she took first in the 100 free with a time of 53.38. Jalet was second in 54.21.

Adler won the 500 free in 5:10.77 with Bullinger in second in 5:14.51. Kate Lindstrom was fourth (5:37.46).

Pioneer’s team of Pringle, Weyhing, Cramer and Bullinger won the 200 free relay in 1:39.27. The team of Meg Pinkerton, Reese Heidenreich, Allison Yadmark and Adler was second in 1:44.21.

Chapman won the backstroke in 56.92 with Bridgette Kamara in second in 58.20.

Pioneer went one-two in the breaststroke with Cramer first (1:05.31) and Weyhing second (1:06.74).

Pioneer’s team of Guo, Jalet, Chapman and Cramer won the 400 free relay in 3:35.25.
