It was a good weekend for Ann Arbor.

It was a great weekend for Ann Arbor’s Regional teams.

Northville won the AA Regional and then went out and finished first in the state tournament with a team score of 615. The Mustangs fired a 307 on the opening day and followed it up with a 308. Plymouth, second at the AA Regional, finished with a 627 (315-312) to finish second overall.

Okemos was third with a 650 followed by Brighton (671) and Troy Athens (683).

Pioneer shot a 690 to tie with Rochester Adams for sixth place – the Pioneers won the tie-breaker. Pioneer shot a 346 on the first day and a 344 in the second round.

“It was a nice outcome for us,” said Pioneer Coach Bill Lyle. “We had a great team comeback to move up three places to finish sixth.”

The Pioneers were led by Mackenzie Rooney. The junior shot a 79 on the opening day and then carded an 83 to finish with a 162.
The rest of the Pioneer scorecard featured junior Alysa Zhu (173), senior Kara Muckstadt (175), senior Hayley Marchand (181) and sophomore Alex Ellender (183).

Maki fired a first-round 75 and then carded a 72 (147) to finish tied for fourth with two other players. Plymouth’s Bridget Boczar led all players with a 143, including a second-round 69.

Skyline’s Riya Patchava also qualified for the state finals. The senior shot a season-best 84 on Friday and then a 98 to finish with a 182 to tie for 51st place overall out of 108 players.

The golf course was quite wet and the conditions included strong winds and chilly temperatures. Still, there was plenty of outstanding golf played and plenty of low scores.
