AAPS: Pioneer Theatre Guild presents ‘You on the Moors Now’ Jan. 27-29

Four literary heroines of the nineteenth century set conventionalism ablaze when they turn down marriage proposals from their equally famous gentlemen callers. What results is a confluence of love, anger, grief, and bloodshed, as the ensemble struggles to reconcile romantic ideologies of the past with their modern ideas of courtship. Everything you’ve learned about love from the pages of Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, and Little Women is turned upside down in this grand theatrical battle royale.  The classic “moors” become “unmoored” as the play takes us on a modern romp through time and space in this inventive new comedy by Jaclyn Backhaus.

Don’t miss Pioneer Theatre Guild’s production of “You on the Moors Now” with a cast of 22 students from Pioneer and Community high schools. The technical crews (stage management, sets, sound, lights, props, makeup, costumes, paint) consist of 50 students from Pioneer and Community.

Senior Ian Weintraub (Heathcliff) encourages audiences to see the show because “[the show] is very unique in the fact that it’s four different stories all mixed up and many different characters interacting in a “fan-fic” style. It’s pretty epic.”

The production is directed by Julia Glander and Alex Leydenfrost.
