Cross Country: Pioneer runs past Northville (see WLAA photogallery)
It was a perfect day for a run and the Pioneer girls’ cross country team took full advantage of the weather and ran an almost perfect race themselves. The Pioneers grabbed the first two spots and five of the top seven in a non-league dual-meet on Wednesday afternoon at Pioneer.
Pioneer ran off with a 21-35 victory over the visiting Mustangs.
Freshman Rachel Forsyth led the Pioneers to the finish line with a time of 18:44.5. Junior Cookie Baugh was only a few steps behind, finishing second in 18:45.2.

Freshman Sylvia Sanok Duffalo was fifth (20:09.9), sophomore Emily Cooper was sixth (20:14.2) and junior Charlotte Batra was seventh (20:13.7). Senior Anna Dudek ran 10th (20:54.8), senior Lauren Jamsen was 15th (21:44.5) and sophomore Allison Nutt was 15th (21:48.1).
In the junior varsity race, sophomore Claire Stanko was third (23:56.0), junior Paige Hockley was fourth (24:07.2) and junior Emma Hilbert was seventh (24:21.3).
