BOYS Track & Field: Local teams compete at annual Larry Steeb Meet in Dexter
Dexter hosted the annual Larry Steeb Meet of Champions at Al Ritt Stadium on Tuesday, and while there were no team scores kept, over 30 different schools had athletes competing in the highly competitive meet held prior to the State Championships.
Here is a look at some of the top local performers from the boys’ side of the track.
In the 100 meters, Huron’s Torrence Greene placed seventh in 11.53 seconds. In the 800 meters, Huron’s Lev Nakamura was sixth (1:58.89). Nakamura was fifth in the 1600 meters (4:27.80).
Pioneer’s Chris Anderson was second in the freshman 1600 meters (4:50.94) and Huron’s Jonah Kraft was ninth (5:00.94).
In the 300 hurdles, Pioneer’s Theodore Stanley was third (42.33).
Skyline’s 4×100 relay team of Hamza Basal, Henry Shaieb, Kamari Simpson and Antoine Bailey ran sixth in 44.88. Skyline’s team of Basal, Bailey, Shaieb and Nicholi Eliaszewicz ran seventh in 1:35.07.
Father Gabriel Richard’s 4×400 relay team of Joe Westemeir, Dominik Fleury, Anthony Pucillo and Thomas Kempton finished seventh in 3:38.11.
Pioneer’s 4×800 relay team of Aaron Sterken, Thomas Kerber, Chase Klapthor and Vincent Peterson Sand placed fourth in 8:42.21. The Pioneer team of Chris Anderson, Jadon Sterken, Patrick Donoghue and Andrew Grier was eighth in 9:16.88.
In the DMR relay, Pioneer’s team of Matt Ruud, Fred Wallace, Eric Overdier and Owen Johnson took first in 10:24.43. Skyline’s team of Mason Jet, Luke Suliman, Leland Weiser and Henry Shaieb took fourth in 11:10.18.
Pioneer’s 4×110 shuttle hurdles team of Connor Casey, Jaivon Smith, Charles Rosenfeld and Theodore Stanley finished second in 1:05.93.
