Swimming: Costello, Streeter help lead Huron’s strong showing at state finals

Huron Diving was well represented at the 2019 MHSAA Girls’ D1 Swimming and Diving State Championships in Holland, MI over the weekend. Four Huron divers competed, with Freshman Hanna Margolis and Junior Julie Park making the trip for the first time, finishing 31 st and 32 nd respectively. Returning Senior Sami Ruud finished 30 th .
Junior Annie Costello had a great performance over the weekend and won the event with 425.40 points, earning All-American consideration. She was also named the Diver of the Meet. The future for Huron Diving looks grand!
On the swim side, Huron junior Annaliese Streeter broke a 40-year old Huron record in the 100 Breaststroke, touching in 1:04.71 and finishing 8th!
She was also 8th in the 200 IM (2:08.53), and the 200 Medley squad of junior Emily Tran, Streeter, senior/captain Anna Leone, Streeter and sophomore Zannah Baker finished 13th, giving Huron a 15th place finish on the day.
Sophomore Kathryn Hemmila also made the trip to States for the first time, swimming in the 200 Free Relay, which finished 17th, just out of finals range. Congratulations Rats!
