Bandemer Park/Barton Nature Area pedestrian connection update
A public meeting by the City of Ann Arbor and the Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission was held Wednesday, Dec. 2, about the proposed pedestrian tunnel beneath the railroad by Bandemer Park. Counting down the days to our holiday market
Shop local on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market (at 315 Detroit St.) for onsite sales, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Then come back Wednesday, Dec. 9, for our holiday market. Vendors will have wreaths, greenery and décor plus apples, apple cider, winter squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, radishes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, turnips, greens, herbs, meat, eggs, cheese, bread, honey, baked goods, coffee, hot sauce, jam, pickles, pasties, Polish food, Mediterranean food, masks, candles, jewelry, textiles, body care products and more! Preordering from select vendors continues with curbside or walk-in pickup 7 a.m.-noon. For preorders, contact the vendor directly from our directory. We are accepting cash, and tokens for credit cards and SNAP/EBT/P-EBT are available at our market office window. While shopping and picking up preorders, please follow all physical distancing and safety guidelines posted and communicated by market staff. All vendors and market staff are required to wear masks, and masks are required for customers as well. You’ll find additional information on our website.
Stewards’ Circle: Adapt – Community-supported ecology
Join us Tuesday, Dec. 8, 7:30-8:30 a.m., as Shawn Severance shares information and answers questions about the mission of Adapt Community Ecology. Adapt is an all-volunteer organization founded by Billy and Nell Kirst. Through crowdfunding, education and volunteer effort, Adapt aims to build a community network that supports the restoration of native plant and perennial food landscapes on small parcels of privately and publicly owned land. Adapt is funded by small donations via Patreon as well as local grants. Anyone can receive a garden, including businesses and schools as well as private landowners. Trivia Time hosted by the Ann Arbor Senior Center
Introducing free, live trivia via Zoom on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1-2 p.m. Each game will have questions based on weekly themes. Invite your friends, grandchildren and neighbors to login and play with you, or be placed on a team with others. We will keep a tally of the winners, and at the conclusion, we’ll award prizes you can drive by to pick up. Visit our website or Facebook for the weekly themes. The best way to explore Ann Arbor, and get some fresh air, is to visit any one of our parks, trails and nature areas. There are more than 160 parks in the system for your enjoyment.
