Water Polo: Three AA schools reach Final Four

It’s a sweep!

Four SEC teams – three from Ann Arbor and one from Dexter – will make up the Division 1 boys’ Water Polo Final Four at the East Regionals on Saturday (Nov. 2). Pioneer will play Skyline in the first game at 9 a.m. with No. 1 ranked Dexter playing Huron in the second semifinal at 10:15 a.m.

The Bronze Medal Game will be at 2 p.m. with Gold Medal Game at 3:15 p.m. All games are at Birmingham Groves High School.

These four teams will play the top four from the West Regional on Friday, Nov. 15. The semifinals and final will be played on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Pioneer defeated Okemos 13-6 on Friday. Henri Schneehagen scored five goals to lead the Pioneers, who were winning 10-1 after the third quarter. Coach Don Packard put in all the postseason varsity players which included a freshman and six sophomores.

Skyline beat Birmingham Seaholm 11-6, Huron beat Hotel (combination of Holt and East Lansing) 16-14 and Dexter dunked Troy United to advance.
