Volleyball: Playing catchup with the Skyline Eagles
The Skyline volleyball team finished up a busy stretch of matches this week, facing a line-up of conference foes and top 20 ranked opponents.
On Saturday (Sept. 29), the Eagles participated in the Northville Quad starting the tournament by knocking off conference rival Saline for the second time this year by the score of 2-0. After finishing off a tough Holly team 2-1, Skyline faced No. 13 and host Northville. Skyline dropped the match 25-27 and 20-25 in two highly contested games.
During the week, the Eagles blanked two conference opponents Ypsilanti 3-0 and Huron 3-0. Led by junior libero Emili Gensheimer and middle hitter Sasha Akuezue, the Eagles are still undefeated in conference play.
This past weekend, the Eagles played in the Lowell Quad. The Eagles first knocked off Caledonia 3-1 and followed that by stopping top 20 ranked Monague 3-1. Skyline dropped the final match of the day to No. 4 Lowell 0-3.
The Eagles, who stand at 10-2 for the season, play at Monroe on Tuesday and host the Skyline Varsity Invitational on Saturday.
