Tennis: Skyline Eagles off to a flying start

The Eagles are flying!

The Skyline boys’ tennis team is off to a flying start with some impressive and dominant wins to kick off the 2020 season.

The Eagles beat Salem 7-1 and swept Bedford 8-0.

Skyline also won the Holt Quad Triple Dual by beating Parma Western, De Lasalle and Holt by 8-0 scores. You can’t do much better than that.

The Eagles then knocked off East Grand Rapids 6-2.

Their two losses of the season have been to Okemos (8-0) and Bloomfield (6-2).

They finished with six points at the Pioneer Quad last week.

Anthony Van Oyen is playing one singles for the Eagles and is 8-4 overall on the season.

“We are off to a pretty good start,” says Coach Eric Sturgis. “We have made a lineup change so I am not sure what I am going forward with but some of the other key players include the senior doubles team of Sam Begosso and Mike Zhou and at three singles is Nikhil Gunaratnam.”
