Tennis: Greenhills, Skyline play to a 4-4 draw in dual-match

Two quality sides met on the tennis courts last week and it was only fitting that things ended in a draw. Greenhills won the top three singles events but Skyline answered by winning three of four in doubles to earn a 4-4 tie in a non-league match.

At one singles, Greenhills’ Chakor Rajendra defeated Anthony Van Oyen 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (3) in a close and exciting match.

The other three singles matches weren’t as close.

Greenhills’ Rishi Verma topped Arya Joshi 6-1, 6-2 at two singles; Greenhills’ Finn Feldeisen defeated Arjun Joshi 6-3, 6-1 at three singles; and Skyline’s Daniel Rogers topped Alex Ye 6-4, 6-1 to volley the Eagles into the win column.

The doubles featured some very competitive tennis with three of the four going three sets.

At one doubles, Skyline’s duo of Nikhil Gunaratnam and Alex Yousif defeated Joey Formicola and Thomas Zeng 6-1, 6-3.

At two doubles, Skyline’s pair of Sam Begosso and Michael Zhou topped Mustafa Zirapury and Yaseen Metwally 5-7, 6-2, 7-5.

Skyline’s three doubles team of Andrew Cooke and Ethan Sung defeated Ryan Wang and Ismael Metwally 6-0, 3-6, 10-5.

Greenhills took the fourth doubles match with Arjun Prabhakar and Lucas Nor defeating Skyline’s Aadith Kumar and Marco Geglio 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.
