Swimming: Skyline swims by Huron in SEC dual-meet
The Skyline swimming and diving team swam past city rival Huron 114-72 on Thursday in an SEC dual-meet at Huron.
The Eagles took off with a win in the 200 medley relay. The team of Lily Cleason, Emma Pettigrew, Claire Kozma and Madison Deininger won in 1:55.31. Huron’s team of Clara Bowman, Ayaka Sakamoto, Anna Leone and Annaliese Streeter was second in 1:58.12.
Skyline’s Allison Haak won the 200 free in 1:59.54 with teammate Gina Sadler in second in 2:03.02. Huron’s Kathryn Hemmila was third (2:05.09).
Streeter took first place for the River Rats in the IM with a time of 2:10.4. Cleason was second (2:19.33) and Pettigrew third (2:21.33) for the Eagles.
Kozma sprinted to first place in the 50 free with a time of 24.92. The Eagles took the top three spots with Alison Lock second (26.74) and Aly Guevara third (26.83).
Huron dominated the diving as the River Rats grabbed the top six spots. Annie Costello was first (258.6 points), Samantha Ruud (235.1) second, Julie Park third (213.65) and Hannah Margolis fourth (199.05).
Kozma won her second race of the evening when she finished first in the butterfly with a time of 1:01.55. Huron’s Anna Leone was second (1:05.2) and Skyline’s Jori Cho was third (106.98).
Haak was back in the winner’s circle after she went 55.14 to win the 100 free. Deininger was second for the Eagles in 56.62 and Hemmila was third for Huron in 58.66.
Sadler went 5:17.62 to lead a one-two Skyline finish in the 500 free. Teammate Ella Enrique-Shakespeare was second (5:35.6) and Huron’s Ezgi Poyraz was third (5:45.33).
The Skyline team of Kozma, Cleason, Deininger and Haak went 1:42.05 to win the 200 freestyle relay. Huron’s team of Li, Hemmila, Ayaka Sakamoto and Streeter went 1:46.03 to touch second.
Cleason swam home first-place points in the backstroke with her winning time of 1:02.63. Bowman was second (1:05.68) for Huron and Deininger third (1:06.35) for the Eagles.
Streeter took first for the River Rats in the breaststroke with a time of 1:05.75. Pettigrew was second (1:12.99) and Lock third (1:13.38) for the Eagles.
Skyline (Haak, Sadler, Pettigrew and Lock) won the 400 free relay in 3:57.05. Huron (Hemmila, Felicia Sang, Lydia Hargett and Poyraz) was second in 4:06.53.
