Swimming: Skyline scores three victories with one big splash
When is a dual swim meet not a dual swim meet? When it’s a quad meet, of course!
Skyline took advantage of swimming synergy last week and scored three dual-meet victories – over Bedford, Jackson, and Adrian – in the efficient form of one quad meet involving all four teams.
The Eagles turned in 1st place finishes in the 200 Free Relay, consisting of Derek Mrachko, John Evangelista, Evan McKelvey, and Matthew Lee. Individually, Atticus Dewey won the 200 Free, Lee won the 500 Free, and Mrachko was victorious in the 100 Breaststroke.
Placing 2nd and 3rd in the relays at the meet were the 200 Medley Relay, placing 2nd (Ben Deininger, Conor Pyle, McKelvey, Jack Staunton), the 400 Free Relay, finishing 2nd as well (Deininger, Lee, Dewey, Grant Gorman), and the 200 Free Relay, finishing 3rd (Gorman, Bassem El Tawil, Pyle, Daniel Koselka).
Individual top swims at the meet were turned in by Charlie Andrew-Vaughan (1 Mtr Diving-139.1 points), Charlie Beeson (50 Free-lifetime best), Deininger (100 Free, 100 Fly-lifetime bests), Gorman (100 Free-season best), Koselka (50 Free, 500 Free-lifetime bests), Aiden Majorprice (200 Free-lifetime best), Lewis McCammon (50 Free-lifetime best), McKelvey (100 Fly-lifetime best), Lee (500 Free-lifetime best), Daniel Osterholzer (100 Fly-lifetime best), Coleson Probst (200 IM, 100 Back-lifetime bests), Owen Schadler (500 Free-lifetime best), and Staunton (100 Free-season best).
The Eagles host a tri-meet with Chelsea and Ypsilanti on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m.
