Swimming: River Rats swim past Chelsea, Bedford in SEC quad-meet
The Huron boys’ and swimming team splashed off in a quad-meet on Friday and came away with two wins. The River Rats defeated Chelsea 133-43 and topped Bedford 100-76. Huron came up a few points short of a sweep, falling to Pinckney 91-85.
The River Rats took third in the opening medley relay. The team of Noah Flott, Dylan Schmitzerle, Kevin Zhou and Brian Moskus finished in 1:46.22. The Huron team of Bryce Yung, Kenneth Jiang, Peter Fazekas and Ben Hires were fourth in 1:52.91.
Huron got kicking in the 200 free as Eli Atkinson touched first in 1:49.89 and Drew Lindstrom was second in 1:53.73. Sean Underwood was seventh (2:01.86) and Ian Powell eighth (2:06.80) for Huron.
In the 200 IM, Schmitzerle was third in 2:10.85 and Hires was fourth in 2:11.50. Jiang was seventh in 2:21.90.
Brian Moskus was fifth in the 50 free in 23.77.
The River Rats had three swimmers land in the top five in the butterfly. Zhou was third (56.89), Drew Lindstrom fourth (57.74) and Fazekas fifth (58.12).
Flott touched third in the 100 free in 51.45. Underwood was sixth (53.93).
Atkinson won the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:59.09. Brian Moskus was fifth (5:37.13) and Alex Moskus was seventh (5:45.91).
The team of Zhou, Atkinson, Schmitzerle and Underwood took first in the 200 free relay in 1:34.84. The foursome of Lindstrom, Fazekas, Alex Moskus and Brian Moskus was third in 1:37.57. The team of Andrew Ma, Jiang, Jaden Martin and Powell was sixth (1:43.51).
Flott was third in the backstroke (54.63) with Joe O’Neal sixth (1:04.03), Yung sixth (1:06.32) and Elijah Peters eighth (1:11.97).
In the breaststroke, Zhou was second (1:03.09), Fazekas third (1:07.40), Schmitzerle sixth (1:09.65) and Jiang seventh (1:10.16).
Huron was third in the 400 free relay. The team of Lindstrom, Underwood, Flott and Atkinson finished in 3:27.94.
