Swimming: Pioneers splash up three more wins with trip to Brighton tri-meet

The Pioneer girls’ swimming and diving team continues to find its stroke and splash their way past opponents. Pioneer, the top ranked team in the state in Division 1, added three more meets to the win column with in an impressive showing on Friday in Brighton.

Pioneer defeated SEC foe Saline 112-74, Brighton 135.5-50.5 and Farmington 141-45.

Pioneer started off with a SPLASH as they went one-three in the opening medley relay. The team of Quoia Sam, Holly Pringle, Amelia Weyhing and Lucy Mehraban took first in 1:46.45 while the team of Lindsay Orringer-Hau, Courtney Marsh, Megan Socha and Madison Miller were third in 1:54.65.

Pioneer went one-two in the 200 freestyle. Vivian VanRenterghem took first (1:54.12) and Sophia Guo was second (1:58.14).

In the 200 IM, Pioneer’s Lily Cramer touched first in 2:08.85. Edwina Jalet was fourth (2:13.05).

It was a triple treat for the Pioneers in the 50 free as Mehraban was first (23.87), Weyhing second (25.23) and Autumn Bullinger third (25.31).

In diving, Alex Mercier was second with 210.15 points.

Pringle was second (59.69) and Orringer-Hau was third (1:00.21) in the 100 butterfly.

The Pioneers went one-three in the 100 free with VanRenterghem first (53.15) and Bullinger third (55.21). Guo tied for fourth in 55.78.

Mehraban, only a freshman, won her second race of the day in the 500 free with a time of 5:06.12. Orringer-Hau took third in 5:15.51.

Pioneer brought home first-place points in the 200 free relay. The team of Weyhing, Cramer, VanRenterghem and Bullinger were first in 1:39.13. The foursome of Jalet, Guo, Eva Woods and Lauren Batra was fourth in 1:45.14.

In the backstroke, Pringle was third (59.70) and Sam fourth (59.74).

In the breaststroke, Cramer was second (1:06.39) and Jalet third (1:08.10).

Pioneer took first in the final race of the evening. The 400 free relay team of Mehraban, VanRenterghem, Bullinger and Cramer splashed to first in 3:34.96. The team of Orringer-Hau, Guo, Pringle and Batra was fourth (3:45.49).
