Swimming: Pioneers knock off three SEC opponents with one big splash

The Pioneer swimming and diving team splashed their way through three SEC opponents last week. The Pioneers defeated Tecumseh 138-47, Monroe 153-30 and Lincoln 150-31 in a quad-meet.

Pioneer went one-two in the opening medley relay. The team of Holly Pringle, Amelia Weyhing, Sophia Guo and Autumn Bullinger finished first in 1:48.88.

Lily Cramer led a three-swim sweep in the 200 free relay by taking first in 1:57.28. Lucy Mehraban was second (1:57.71) and Eva Woods third (2:05.29).

Pioneer’s Edwina Jalet was second in the 200 IM (2:14.98) followed by teammate Guo (2:16.22).

Vivian VanRenterghem won the 50 free in 24.99 followed by Weyhing in 25.11.

The Pioneers took the top four spots in diving: Alex Mercier (235.35), Sefina Patterson (190), Tierney Fraidenburg (176.5) and Jordan Marion (173.15).

Holly Pringle was second (59.15) and Guo third (1:03.21) for Pioneer in the butterfly.

Lindsay Orringer-Hau was second (54.27) and Weyhing third (54.34) for the Pioneers in the 100 free.

Mehraban won the 500 free in 5:08.20 followed by Cramer (5:12.39).

The Pioneer 200 free relay team of Woods, Jalet, Piper Campbell and Mehraban took first in 1:45.97.

VanRenterghem won her second individual race of the meet by taking first place in the backstroke in 59.10. Orringer-Hau was second (59.84) and Autumn Bullinger third (59.94) in a very close race to the wall.

Jalet won the breaststroke in 1:07.62 followed by Pringle (1:13.67), Woods (1:13.92) and Jiayou Shen (1:18.38).

The Pioneer 400 free relay team of Weyhing, Guo, Orringer-Hau and Cramer took first in 3:38.43.
