Swimming: Pioneers knock off Saline in SEC dual-meet

The Pioneer girls’ swimming and diving team continues to steamroll through the dual-meet season. After defeating Huron on Thursday, the Pioneers jumped right back into the water on Friday at Saline and dunked the Hornets 116.5-69.5.

Pioneer set the tone in the meet’s first event by taking first in the medley relay. The team of Quoia Sam, Amelia Weyhing, Stella Chapman and Lily Cramer took first in 1:46.11.

Pioneer’s Vivian VanRenterghem won the 200 free in 1:56.31. Lindsay Orringer-Hau was second in 1:56.51. Sophia Guo was fourth (2:00.03).

The Pioneers took the top two spots in the 200 IM with Edwina Jalet in first (2:07.82) and Cramer second (2:09.04).

In the 50 free, Weyhing was first (24.63) and Autumn Bullinger second (25.32).

In diving, the Pioneers’ Alexandra Mercier landed second with 231.70 points.  Jordan Marion was fourth (179.70) and Madison Bell was fifth (159.95).

Chapman touched first in the butterfly in 57.73 with Guo in second in 59.90.

In the 100 freestyle, Cramer took first in 53.39. Bullinger was third in 54.89 and Sam was fifth (56.08).

Orringer-Hau took second in the 500 free with a time of 5:10.75 with Yan Yee Adler in third in 5:16.73. VanRenterghem was fifth in 5:23.07.

The Pioneer team of Bullinger, Weyhing, VanRenterghem and Guo took first in the 200 free relay in 1:39.49.

In the backstroke, Chapman took first (56.30) with Sam third (59.78).
Jalet won the breaststroke in 1:05.26 with Weyhing a very close second (1:05.67).

The Pioneer team of Chapman, Cramer, Orringer-Hau and VanRenterghem took first in the 400 free relay in 3:35.30.
