Swimming: Pioneers cruise past Huron in SEC dual-meet

The Pioneer swimming and diving team remained on course with a strong 136-50 win over Huron on Thursday evening. The Pioneers continue to get solid swims from their frontline swimmers while they add depth and experience up and down the pool.

The Pioneers started off the meet with a splash – taking first and second in the medley relay. The team of Holly Pringle, Amelia Weyhing, Lily Cramer and Lucy Mehraban won in 1:50.04. The team of Quoia Sam, Edwina Jalet, Lindsay Orringer-Hau and Autumn Bullinger touched a very close second in 1:51.41.

Mehraban won the 200 free in 1:53.69 with Vivian VanRenterghem in second (1:54.28) and Orringer-Hau in third (1:58.22).

Cramer won the 200 IM in 2:09.30 with Pringle second (2:14.67) and Jalet third (2:14.77).

In the 50 free, Weyhing took first place with a time of 25.15 and Sam was second in 26.79.

Pioneer’s Alex Mercier was second in diving with 219.60 points.

Orringer-Hau led the Pioneers to a dominating performance in the butterfly as they took the top four spots. Orringer-Hau was first in 58.96 followed by Sophia Guo (1:02.09), Eva Woods (1:03.32) and Jeannie Liu (1:06.31).

VanRenterghem won the 100 free in 53.04 with Mehraban in second in 53.19.

The Pioneers went one-two in the 500 free with Bullinger first (5:18.08) and Jalet second (5:29.06).

The Pioneer team of Mehraban, Pringle, Orringer-Hau and VanRenterghem won the 200 free relay in 1:40.04. The team of Weyhing, Cramer, Guo and Woods was a very, very close second in 1:40.87.

In the backstroke, Sam finished in first place with a time of 59.30.

Cramer won her second individual race when she won the breaststroke in 1:06.60. Weyhing was second (1:07.37) and Woods third (1:15.67).

Pioneer won the 400 free relay as the team of Bullinger, Guo, Gracie Hou and Jalet touched first in 3:50.67. The team of VanRenterghem, Sam, Piper Campbell and Woods was second in 3:53.32.
