Swimming: Pioneer swims past state-ranked Grosse Pointe South

The Pioneer girls’ swimming and diving team is getting ready for the SEC Red Championship meet at Pioneer on Nov. 4-5. The Pioneers met up with some elite competition on Saturday in a tri-meet and didn’t miss a stroke – knocking off Grosse Pointe South (No. 2 in the state in D-2) 124.50-58.50. They also beat Cass Tech 150-28.

The Pioneer 200 medley relay team of Bridgette Kamara, Reese Heidenreich, Stella Chapman and Lucy Mehraban took first place in 1:47.07.

The Pioneers went one-two in the 200 free with Sophia Guo taking first in 1:53.59 and Yan Yee Adler taking second in 1:54.96. Eva Woods was fourth (2:00.80).

Chapman won the 200 IM in 2:06.35. Ursula Ott was third (2:11.47).

The Pioneers swept the 50 free with Mehraban first (23.75), Kate Van Ryn second (24.84) and Meg Pinkerton third (25.33).

Pioneer went one-two in diving with Grace Daly first (222 points) and Arianna Pagel second (174.80).

Guo was second (57.41) in the butterfly. Heidenreich was third (1:00.90) and Woods fourth (1:01.60).

Pioneer went one-two in the 100 free with Mehraban first (52.41) and Van Ryn second (54.89). Pinkerton was fourth (56.25).

Adler went 5:02.17 to win the 500 free for Pioneer. Ava Griffith was fourth (5:34.80).

Pioneer’s 200 free relay team of Guo. Ott, Pinkerton and Van Ryn touched first in 1:36.73.

Pioneer went one-two in the backstroke with Chapman first (56.22) and Kamara second (59.97).

Pioneer also went one-two in the breaststroke with Heidenreich first (1:05.87) and Ott second (1:06.56).

Pioneer’s 400 free relay team of Mehraban, Guo, Adler and Chapman took first in 3:30.62. Pioneer’s team of Kamara, Campbell, Woods and Heidenreich took second in 3:43.09.
