Swimming: Pioneer opens with a dominating win over Temperance Bedford

The Pioneer girls’ swimming and diving team splashed open the season on Thursday with a convincing 150-36 victory over SEC foe Temperance Bedford. The Pioneers won all the relays and took first in every individual event.

The foursome of Stella Chapman, Edwina Jalet, Holly Pringle and Autumn Bullinger opened the meet with a first-place time of 1:48.89 in the medley relay. The team of Quoia Sam, Amelia Weyhing, Sophia Guo and Lily Cramer took second in 1:48.93. Yeah, a pretty close race to the wall in the opening medley relay.

Pioneer dominated the top of the table in the 200 free. Lindsay Orringer-Hau was first (1:56.99) followed by Vivian Van Renterghem (1:57.66), Guo (2:03.90) and Eva Woods (2:09.00).

Pioneer went one-two in the 200 IM with Chapman touching first in 2:09.02 followed by Cramer in 2:12.51.

Pioneer also went one-two in the 50 free with Weyhing first (25.26) and Bullinger second (25.26). Yes, the same times!

Pioneer took the top three spots in diving with Alexandra Mercier first (212.9 points), Natalie Mello second (178.05) and Jordan Marion third (164.9).

Pringle won the butterfly in 1:00.12 with Guo touching second in 1:01.30.

In the 100 free, Weyhing was first (55.21), Jalet second (56.46), Sam third (58.85) and Allison Yadmark fourth (1:02.76).

Pioneer took the first three spots in the 500 free with Orringer-Hau first (5:14.36), Chapman second (5:16.68) and VanRenterghem third (5:28.01).

Pioneer won the 200 free relay as the team of Weyhing, Jalet, Yadmark and Woods went 1:44.62. The team of Cramer, Adler, Campbell and VanRenterghem was second in 1:45.19. The Pioneer team of Kate Lindstrom, Cassidy Spisak, Gracie Hou and Rachel Brewbaker was third in 1:57.12.

Pioneer took the top three spots in the backstroke with Pringle first (59.61), Bullinger second (1:00.44) and Sam third (1:01.95).

In the breaststroke, Jalet took first in 1:07.97 followed by Cramer (1:08.19) and Adler (1:09.03).

The team of Chapman, Orringer-Hau, Woods and Bullinger won the 400 free relay in 3:45.00. The team of VanRenterghem, Guo, Sam and Pringle took second in 3:49.78.
