Swimming: Pioneer dunks Bedford 136-47 in SEC dual-meet

The Pioneer boys’ swimming team crushed Bedford 136-47 in an SEC dual-meet on Thursday. The Pioneers won all three relays and took first in all but one individual event.

The foursome of Ryan Hume, Matt Segal, Koa Williams and Alex Farmer opened the meet with a first-place time of 1:38.39 in the medley relay.

Pioneer dominated the 200 free with Teodor Jaworski taking first in 1:47.58 followed by Samuel Fonte (1:50.41), Alec Lipham (1:51.93) and Jack Shemke (1:55.76).

Farmer took first in the IM with a time of 2:07.24 followed by Gabriel Almeida (2:10.21) and Jack Bajcz (2:17.4).

Hume took first in the 50 free in 22.20. Caleb Rice was third in 23.07 and Williams fourth in 23.10.

Cole Tremewan continued his strong season. He took first in diving with 293.20 points. Teammate Max Rolla-Mullis was second with 211.80.

Vaughn Hajra won the butterfly in 55.08. Jack Wilkening was fourth in 58.74.

Shemke was second in the 100 free in 51.00. Williams was third in 51.28 and Lipham fourth in 51.71.

The Pioneers dominated the 500 free with Jaworski winning his second race of the day with a first-place time of 4:52.36. Hume was second (4:52.72), Fonte third (5:19.93) and Tristan Serr fourth (5:20.18).

The foursome of Farmer, Rice, Shemke and Hajra won the 200 free relay in 1:31.59. The team of Williams, Jack DeBona, Lipham and Jaworski was second in 1:33.82.

In the backstroke, Segal took first place in 54.08. Justin Su was third in 1:00.19 and Gabriel Sanchez-Burks was fourth in 1:01.00.

Segal went back-to-back with a win in the breaststroke in 57.18. Sung-Jae Lee was second (1:02.98) and Young Jun third (1:08.46).

The foursome of Hume, Jaworski, Farmer and Segal won the 400 free relay in 3:15.60. The team of Rice, Hajra, Shemke and Lipham took second in 3:25.64.
