Swimming: No. 1 ranked Pioneer swims past Jackson, Dexter (WLAA photo gallery)

Pioneer hosted Dexter and Jackson on Thursday in an SEC swimming and diving tri-meet. The Pioneers, the No. 1 ranked team in the state in Division 1, defeated Dexter 129-57 and Jackson 147-39. Dexter defeated Jackson 132-54.

Pioneer opened the meet with a one-two finish in the medley relay. The team of Vivian VanRenterghem, Lily Cramer, Sophia Guo and Lucy Mehraban won with a time of 1:50.24. The team of Lindsay Orringer-Hau, Edwina Jalet, Holly Pringle and Amelia Weyhing were a close second in 1:51.56.

Dexter’s team of Lauren Witte, Zoe Michos, Emma Sortor and Holly Durand swam third in 1:59.60.

Orringer-Hau jumped right back in the water and won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.22 with teammates Guo (1:57.70) and Autumn Bullinger (1:57.89) right behind her. Dexter’s Charlotte Schultz was fourth (1:58.78).

Pringle won the 200 IM (2:12.82) and Weyhing was second (2:18.53) for the Pioneers. Michos was third (2:23.37) and Witte was fourth (2:23.65) for Dexter.

Pioneer went one-two in the 50 free with Cramer first (24.84) and VanRenterghem second (25.06). Dexter’s Sam Durrant was third (26.38) and Durand was fourth (26.49).

Dexter’s Vivian Kinnard won the diving with 253.95 points. Pioneer’s Alex Mercier was second (230.8). Dexter’s Elysa Grossman was third (215.55), Pioneer’s Sefina Patterson was fourth (189.9) and Pioneer’s Tierney Fraidenburg was sixth (181.85).

Earning qualification to the MHSAA Regional dive meet were Pioneer’s Mercier and Patterson.

The Pioneers took the top three spots in the 100 butterfly. Jalet was first (1:02.46), Mehraban second (1:03.6) and Weyhing third (1:03.81). Dexter’s Emma Sortor was sixth (1:05.48).

Cramer returned to the winner’s circle for the Pioneers with her first-place finish time of 53.58 in the 100 freestyle. Schultz was second for Dexter in 56.12. Quoia Sam was third (56.55) and Dexter’s Durrant was fourth (58.23) with teammate Maddi Matos fifth (59.15).

Pioneer took the top four spots in the 500 free with Orringer-Hau (5:10.46), VanRenterghem (5:12.97), Bullinger (5:18.98). Dexter’s Elizabeth Merz was sixth (5:44.91) and teammate Elizabeth Higgins seventh (5:48.82).  

In the 200 free, Pioneer (Quoia Sam, Holly Pringle, Dayna Houston, Amelia Weyhing) swam first in 1:44.54. Pioneer’s team of Jalet, Guo, Amy Rodriguez and Bullinger was second (1:45.12). Dexter’s team of Durand, Theresa Rutz, Elizabeth Merz and Schultz took third 1:47.50.

In the backstroke, Pioneer’s Mehraban was first in 1:03.21. Dexter’s Witte was second (1:04.12) and teammate Alexis TerBush third (1:07.05).

Pringle won her second individual race with a first place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.16. Zoe Michos was a very close second for Dexter in 1:13.60. Dexter’s Morgan Colosky was fourth (1:16.88) and teammate Kamille Balcom fifth (1:17.07).   

Pioneer’s team of Cramer, Quoia, Gracie Hou and VanRenterghem won the 400 free relay in 3:44.90. Pioneer’s team of Bullinger, Orringer-Hau, Hanna Kharchenko and Mehraban was second in 3:50.33. Dexter’s team of Schultz, Durand, Merz and Witte was third (3:56.39).
