Swimming: Huron posts impressive times in SEC dual-meet with Saline
The Huron boys’ swimming and diving team put up an impressive performance on Thursday with SEC Red Division power Saline. The River Rats recorded some excellent times but came up short on the scoreboard in a 118-65 loss to the talented Hornets.
The Huron team of Eli Atkinson, Peter Fazekas, AJ Stewart and Drew Lindstrom took second in the medley relay with a MSCA-cut time of 1 minute, 43.08 seconds.
In the 200 freestyle, Huron’s Alex Moskus touched third in 1:58.88 and John Gao was fourth in 2:03.93.
Atkinson placed second in the 200 IM with a MSCA-cut time of 2:10.15. Daniel Huang was fifth (2:20.03) and Jeffery Wang sixth (2:26.84) for Huron.
Victor Foss sprinted to a third-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 25.11. Tyler Gibbs was fourth for Huron in 25.35.
Stewart touched first in the 100 butterfly with a MSCA-cut time of 54.87. Fazekas was right behind him with a MSCA-cut time of 58.29 as the River Rats went one-two.
In the 100 free, Victor Foss was third (54.65) and Gao was fourth (56.38) for the River Rats.
Lindstrom touched third in the 500 free in 4:55.15. Joe O’Neal was sixth for Huron with a time of 5:49.52 and Wang took seventh in 6:02.39.
Huron took the top two spots in the 200 free relay. Fazekas, Stewart, Foss and Lindstrom took first in 1:37.29 and the group of Gao, Ian Powell, Matthew Dowling and O’Neal took second in 1:45.47.
Atkinson was fourth in the backstroke with a time of 1:00.81. Moskus was fifth in 1:03.73 and Kenneth Jiang was sixth in 1:04.32.
Fazekas took second in the breaststroke with a MSCA-cut time of 1:05.29. Dowling was fourth (1:23.48) and Powell fifth (1:24.29).
Huron’s 400 free relay team of Lindstrom, Moskus, Stewart and Atkinson took second in a MSCA-cut time of 3:33.95.
