Softball: Zajchowski, Raudenbush help lead Pioneers to sweep over Adrian
The Pioneer softball team had the offense rolling on Wednesday in a doubleheader sweep of visiting Adrian. The Pioneers scored a 14-4 win in the first game and then a 16-0 mercy win in the nightcap.
In the opener, the Pioneers had 11 hits and scored three runs in each of the first two innings and then busted it open with a seven-run fifth inning.
Sarina Zajchowski had a huge game for the home team. She was 3-for-4 at the plate including a home run with six RBI and three runs scored. Ceci Maixner was 3-for-4 with two RBI and Starr Raudenbush had two hits and two RBI with a run scored. Alina Mankowski had a hit, a walk and three runs scored and Reese Westover had a hit, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored.
Maixner was the winner in the circle for the Pioneers. She allowed just five hits and four runs with five strikeouts on 80 pitches.
In the nightcap, Pioneer scored four in the first, seven in the second and five in the third for a 16-0 win. They racked up 12 hits and took adantage of five Adrian errors.
Jordan Marion had three hits and two RBI while Westover, Zajchowski, (three RBI), Raudenbush (four RBI) and Eva Kubacki each had two hits in the win.
Olivia Guidinger allowed just one hit in three innings to pick up the win.
