Softball: Three Ann Arbor teams heading to Saline for Districts

The three public Ann Arbor softball teams are heading to Saline for the Division 1 District 15 tournament which begins and ends on Saturday.

The Pioneers roll into the postseason riding a five-game winning streak following victories over Huron, Ypsilanti and Jackson. Pioneer is 13-14 overall and will open with city rival Skyline at 10 a.m. The two teams haven’t met since they split a doubleheader on April 26 with Pioneer winning the nightcap on a dramatic walk-off double in the eighth inning.

The Eagles fly into Districts with an 8-21-1 record following Sunday’s 8-4 loss to Livonia Churchill.

Saline will play Huron in the second game at noon. At 22-12 overall, the Hornets are clearly the favorite to advance out of this District. They swept Skyline on May 14 and swept Pioneer on May 10 in league doubleheaders.

The finals are at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
