Softball: Pioneer’s late rally falls short in non-league loss to Garden City

After five scoreless innings, Garden City finally got on the board with a run in the top of the sixth against Pioneer in a non-league softball game on Friday at Pioneer. The Cougars scored three more in the top of the seventh.

Pioneer finally got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the seventh but the rally fell short in a 4-2 loss.

Garden City had 11 hits and two errors. The Pioneers had six hits and had four errors.

Olivia Guidinger went all seven innings and threw 107 pitches. She allowed 11 hits and four runs (only two earned) and had eight strikeouts and no walks for the Pioneers.

Ella Roberts was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Sarina Zajchowski, Ceci Maixner (double), Starr Raudenbush and Eva Kubacki all had a hit for Pioneer.
