Soccer: Pioneers tie Seaholm, blank Bedford – See WLAA photogallery
Siobhan Norman is having a blast coaching the Pioneers.
After coaching the Pioneer girls’ JV team for a few seasons, Norman has moved up to the varsity along with many of her former players. “I’m really excited about coaching this team,” she said. “We have a great mix of seniors and juniors and the girls are working really hard. We are excited about this season.”
Pioneer has gotten off to a nice start.

Senior Brianna Powell scored three goals and junior Carly Baker had two goals in Pioneer’s 8-0 win Tuesday over Bedford in an SEC matchup. Sidney Jackel, Maya Nanos and Mara Krupka also scored in the win.
Pioneer improved to 2-2-1 on the young season.
On Saturday, the Pioneers played visiting Birmingham Seaholm to a scoreless draw. “We played well,” said Norman. “They had a few more chances which gave us a chance to work on our defense.”
