Soccer: Experienced Skyline knocks off young Huron 6-2
The Skyline boys’ soccer team has 17 seniors on the roster and incredible talent and depth. They showed off that depth on Thursday night when six different players scored goals in a 6-2 win over a young Huron team in an SEC matchup at Huron.
Skyline fell behind 1-0 but led 2-1 at halftime and then got the offense rolling in the second half with four goals.
“The game was pretty exciting as it was back and forth a lot,” said Skyline Coach Chris Morgan. “In the end, we had a few more chances, and we were able to secure the win.”
Paul Fontana, Peter Pecoits, Conner Alderman, Kyan Steudle, Gabe Kellman, and Tyler Warren all hit the back of the net for the Eagles.
Skyline even has depth in goal. Henry Lukela, Bailey Edison and Roman Wing all saw action in the net in the win over Huron.
“It was a solid team effort, and more importantly, we came out healthy,” says Morgan.
The Eagles improved to 1-1 on the season after losing a “super exciting game” in the final 2 minutes to Detroit CC 4-3.
“It was a great game … very much akin to a track meet,” said Morgan.
The Eagles, like so many teams, are excited to be back on the pitch. “It’s great to be on the field, together as a family,” Morgan says. “The boys have been awesome to be around, and work with.”
Skyline hosts Bedford on Tuesday and head to Saline on Thursday in a pair of SEC contests.
