4/24 AM Orchard Lake St. Mary’s & Notre Dame Academy, OH
4/24 PM Ann Arbor Pioneer & Culver Military Academy, IN
Skyline Crew took on Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and Notre Dame Academy in the morning and Ann Arbor Pioneer and Culver Academies in the afternoon their only spring regatta on their home course on the Huron River adjacent to Concordia University. Skyline swept the eights in the AM races, taking home first in novice, JV, and varsity eights on both men’s and women’s sides. The Skyline novice women carried that momentum into the afternoon, defeating Culver and Pioneer in the eight.
However, the afternoon crews proved to be stiffer competition for varsity eagles but the novices and JV continued to reel in golds in eights and fours alike, including a tight race to the finish in the novice men’s four. Skyline Crew is grateful to all four visiting teams for a great day of racing, and the team would like to thank Concordia and parent volunteers for making this regatta possible.

5/1 Laddie Cup – Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, Pioneer, EGR, St. John’s Jesuit, Rockford
In Skyline’s biggest regatta so far this season, St. Mary’s Preparatory High School hosted Ann Arbor Pioneer, East Grand Rapids, St. John’s Jesuit, Rockford, and our Eagles. The six teams raced over the 1500 meter course on Orchard Lake. This water is notorious for challenging race conditions but Skyline overcame the waves, with varsity men and women taking home ‘gold’ in the quad and doubles.
The novice women won their quad as well and the novice men took second in a competitive eight race. The Skyline varsity women also took first in the eight in a turn of events from their defeat by Pioneer on Skyline’s home water the previous weekend.
Overall, a great and challenging day of racing in preparation for Midwest Scholastic Championships, our qualifier for Nationals. Skyline Crew would like to thank parent volunteers assisting with regatta logistics, the five competing teams for the races, and St. Mary’s Preparatory High School for hosting this regatta.
