Sharing Space: Open Call For Artists & A2AC Gallery’s Inaugural Exhibition

ANN ARBOR – The A2AC announces an OPEN CALL for artist submissions to Sharing Space, the inaugural exhibition of the A2AC Gallery 2022 Season. The exhibition (May 20 – July 8, 2022) will coincide with the grand opening of the A2AC’s new 1200-sq.-ft. street-level gallery and renovated studio spaces, located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor.

The submission deadline is April 3, 2022, followed by the notification of acceptance within April 11th-15th, 2022, and the opening on May 20, 2022. The opening reception will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022. For more detail on the OPEN CALL, please visit A2AC’s Artist Opportunities.

Addressing themes of intimacy, distance, connection, and comfort, Sharing Space invites us to explore new creative possibilities for engaging with each other and our lived environments in the face of recent personal, community, and societal transformations. The exhibition will also be an opportunity for participating artists to contribute to the A2AC’s mission to transform the new A2AC Gallery into a shared space for collaboration, encounters, and expression. To this end, the A2AC will partner with artists to organize related programming designed to invite audience participation and community engagement during the exhibition.

“The A2AC boasts a long history of dynamic exhibitions supported by the creativity and initiative of local artists and culture makers. Building on this legacy, we envision the new A2AC Gallery to be an inclusive space for exhibition, conversation, and interaction driven by the interests and expertise of our communities that simultaneously challenges and enriches perspectives through encounters with artists and voices from across the country” ─ Ashley Miller, A2AC Gallery Director.
