Season Preview: Skyline swimming hopes to make another big splash in tough conference

Mo-Jo Murrett always has a positive outlook when it comes to her swimming and diving teams at Skyline – and why not, the Eagles have become one of the top programs in the state under her watch.

“The future is bright at Skyline,” Murrett says heading into the 2019-20 boys’ season. And why not – the Eagles appear loaded with a solid mix of senior leadership, new swimmers and plenty of talent to work with.

“We are young and enthusiastic,” Murrett says. “We are counting on solid leadership. We need to improve stroke mechanics and race strategies.”

Skyline finished sixth in the state last year after going 9-3 in dual-meets and placing third in the toughest conference in the state – the SEC Red Division.Top returning swimmers returning for Skyline include seniors Atticus Dewey and Derek Mrachko along with junior Daniel Koselka. The Eagles have a strong sophomore class featuring Evan McKelvey, Ben Kurniawan, Matthew Lee and Ben Deininger.

Skyline opens the season on Thursday (Dec. 12) at home against defending Division 2 state champion Dexter.
