Road work on South University Avenue to begin on Monday, March 16
South University Avenue, between South State Street and East University: Phase 1 – Monday, March 16-Early May, 2020. Beginning Monday, March 16, through March 22, 2020, South University Avenue will close to traffic in the eastbound direction between South State Street and East University Avenue for utility improvements. During this closure, the contractor will detour traffic southerly on South State Street, easterly on Hill Street, and northerly on Church Street back to South University Avenue. The contractor will maintain one-way traffic on South University Avenue through the construction area with one lane operating in the westbound direction.
On, Monday, March 23, 2020, South University Avenue will close completely between South State Street and Tappan Street. Eastbound and westbound through traffic will be detoured using South State Street, Hill Street and Church Street. The contractor will maintain local traffic in the westbound direction between East University Avenue and Tappan Street, and expects this closure and related work to continue through early May 2020, weather permitting.
The contractor will maintain pedestrian traffic during construction.
