Public invited to Student Art Show at Washtenaw Community College
ANN ARBOR – Washtenaw Community College (WCC) invites the public to the 2022 Student Art Show. Student creations will be available for viewing on the second floor of the Student Center through Thursday, April 7, or online in the virtual gallery.
The show features 124 pieces and celebrates the talents of WCC art students. All works were created in college courses from Winter 2020 to Fall 2021 and include artistic mediums such as 2D and 3D visual art, photography, animation, graphic design and video.
An in-person open house will be 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, March 31. The open house offers a chance to view art and learn from faculty about various art programs and courses offered at WCC. Cookies and light refreshments will be served.
The show was adjudicated by Saima Mohammad, assistant professor of graphic design at Wayne State University. Mohammad has been teaching at WSU since Fall 2018 and received her MFA in Design & Technology from The New School.

WCC students and their works recognized at the 2022 Student Art Show are:
- Terese Basha Jarjoura – first place, “Doorway,” a stoneware piece created in Ceramics II.
- Andrea Rose – second place, “Master Study,” a paper collage created in Color.
- Galina Wachs – third place, “Peace Bomb,” a 3D digital print created in Introduction in Compositing and Visual Effects.
- Bob Rickman – President’s Choice award, “Bridge to Evening,” a 4×5 analog film photograph created in Large Format Photography II.
- Nathan Schuppert – Dean’s Choice award, “Untitled,” two ceramic pieces created in Ceramics I.
- Tyler Ferrell – Promising Artist award, “Covid-19: My Perspective,” a video created in Video Production.
- Marissa Harris – Promising Artist award, “Dwelling #36,” a graphite drawing made in Basic Drawing I.
- Marissa Harris –People’s Choice award, “The Runaways,” a charcoal drawing made in Basic Drawing II.
