Jasmine shares her thoughts about the upcoming FutureStars:

Have you participated in FutureStars previously?
Yes. I have been performing in future stars since my sophomore year, the only sophomore that year. I sang “Natural Woman” with Bridget Roberts and Ella Manning, and “Beautiful” with Monty Granderson, and I sang solo with “Overjoyed.” My junior year I sang with Maya Boyd, singing “Don’t Stop Believing” and I sang solo, singing “Reflection” from Mulan.

Tell me about what you will be performing and how you got interested in that?
This year I will be singing, “Best Part,” by Daniel Cesar. I have been singing since I was a baby. My entire family is musical, all six of us.

What were your initial thoughts about participating in this virtual FutureStars 2021?
I was hesitant at first but I always knew I was going to participate. I think if there is an amazing group of people who are willing to put their time and effort into something so we can all have memorable moments going into our lives after high school and into our careers, I would love to be a part of that. I would be honored to be a part of that.

Which artists have most inspired you?
I take inspiration from all over but I would say my main inspiration is my father.

What will you always remember about your senior year of high school?
How COVID-19 opened a whole new reality that I never thought was possible and all of the people who made it a little more bearable.

What are your plans for next year and beyond?
I want to be in the performing industry, whether that be performing or musical theater or a recording artist. Or maybe all of it (haha).
