We need you! Upcoming Burr Oak Park volunteer workdays
Join Adopt-a-Park staff to cut and remove invasive and non-native shrubs such as common buckthorn, honeysuckle and autumn olive from the park’s wooded area. City staff will facilitate the workdays and bring all necessary tools and supplies. Mack Indoor Pool private swim lessons available
Sign up for individual swim instruction for swimmers ages 3 to adult. Each private lesson is 30-minutes and customized to meet the needs of the swimmer. Space is very limited. Private lessons are for one participant only. 30-minutes, $18, resident; $22, nonresident. Lessons are available Oct. 2-Dec. 12 and Jan. 8-May 1. Online reservations are open here.
Saturday and Sunday timeslots:
1:40-2:10 p.m.; 2:20-2:40 p.m.; 3-3:30 p.m.; 3:40-4:10 p.m.; 4:20-4:50 p.m.; 5-5:30 p.m. and 5:40-6:10 p.m.
Instructors will wear a clear plastic face shield during lessons. Please self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before you arrive. If anyone is not feeling well, has a fever, shortness of breath or any COVID-19 like symptoms, or has recently been exposed to COVID-19, please cancel the lessons. Make-up lessons will be provided as needed.
At this time, swimmers should be accompanied by no more than one adult for the lesson and that individual is required to wear a mask. Arrive no more than five minutes before your lesson and be sure that the swimmer is dressed to swim. Locker rooms will be for entering the facility and emergent bathroom use. Please continue to distance from other guests. Once you have completed your swim, please exit the pool deck and out to the parking lot.

Ann Arbor Senior Center brings back live trivia
Wednesdays, Oct. 6 and 20, 1-2 p.m. We are back with live trivia via Zoom! Join us on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Each game will have questions based on weekly themes. Invite your friends, grandchildren, and neighbors to login and play with you, or be placed on a team with others. Chinese Mahjong
Every Monday starting in October, noon-3 p.m. Test your skills and strategy tactics with an ancient tile-based game of Chinese origin, while engaging in bit of friendly competition. Senior art in the park
Every Monday noon-1 p.m. Join one of our staffers for a themed art project at the Ann Arbor Senior Center. Each class we will provide each artist their own personal supplies, you just need to bring your own creativity! If the weather is uncooperative, we will meet socially distanced indoors. Face masks and social distancing required both inside and outside. Preregistration required, spaces limited. Previous projects include creating a succulent terrarium; building a wind chime; create and decorate bird seed feeders; and creating fall wreaths. The Ann Arbor Farmers Market is open for onsite sales Saturdays and Wednesdays, 7 a.m.-3 p.m., at 315 Detroit St. You will find apples, pears, apple cider, pumpkins, decorative corn, decorative gourds, winter squash, tomatoes, peppers, fresh vegetables, cut flowers, herbs, plants, bread, poultry, eggs, meat, cheese, baked goods, prepared food, beverages, artisan products and more!
