It’s starting to look like fall at the market
The Ann Arbor Farmers Market is open for onsite sales Saturdays and Wednesdays, 7 a.m.-3 p.m., at 315 Detroit St. You will find sweet corn, peaches, plums, watermelons, heirloom tomatoes, peppers, apples, pears, fresh vegetables, cut flowers, herbs, plants, bread, poultry, eggs, meat, cheese, baked goods, prepared food, beverages, artisan products and more! We accept cash, and tokens for credit cards and SNAP/EBT/P-EBT are available at our market office window. Preordering from select vendors continues with curbside or walk-in pickup, 8 a.m.-noon. Extend your swim season indoors
Mack Indoor Pool will be opening for the 2021-22 season Monday, Sept. 20. We will be offering programming and public swim opportunities this fall. Ann Arbor Senior Center live trivia
Join us Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1-2 p.m. (1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month) for live trivia via Zoom. Each game will have questions based on weekly themes. Invite your friends, grandchildren, and neighbors to login and play with you, or be placed on a team with others. Back to school drive-thru
Please join the Ann Arbor Senior Center Wednesday, Sept. 22, noon-1 p.m., for a drive-thru event where themed goodie bags, snacks and beverages will be given out to take home! Going back to school as a kid was such an exciting time. We don’t want to miss out on the fun as adults. In celebration of this time of year, the Ann Arbor District Library will be joining us to rent books and sign up guests for library cards. Senior art in the park
Every Monday in September, noon-1 p.m., join us for a themed art project outside the Ann Arbor Senior Center. Each class, we will provide each artist their own personal supplies, you just need to bring your own creativity. If the weather is uncooperative, we will meet socially distanced indoors. Face masks and social distancing required both inside and outside. Preregistration required, space is limited.

Change of hours update
Important note: Leslie Park Golf Course will be closing on Monday mornings starting Sept. 13 for ongoing maintenance. The course will open for the day at 1 p.m. This  Monday morning closure will last throughout the rest of this golf season. Thank you for understanding.


Natural Area Preservation Stewards’ Circle
Join us for a new Stewards Circle, taking place on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Veterans Memorial Park meeting room (followed by happy hour nearby). For the last 10 years, the Huron Arbor Cluster of the Stewardship Network has been gathering monthly with a local expert to answer your questions; now it’s time to flip the script! You are invited to share your experiences and learn from your peers. This month’s topic: Summer invasives control. Stewardship workdays
Please stay home if you are feeling ill. NAP continues to monitor recommendations from health officials, volunteers registered for events will be notified in advance of any changes to the workday. Please wear long pants and closed-toed shoes and bring a water bottle and leather gloves. All minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Tools and know-how provided.

  • Foxfire West is mostly wetland, providing habitat for unique and sometimes rare species. The wetlands here include a fen — a peat-accumulating wetland fed by mineral-rich ground or surface water. Invasive shrubs threaten wetlands by crowding out the native flora and fauna that make this natural area special. Join us Saturday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m.-noon, to cut and remove buckthorn and honeysuckle. Meet at the corner of Hickory Point Drive and Indian Creek Circle. (map). Preregister here.
  • Leslie Woods Nature Area is a historically intact woodland that remains a well-functioning ecosystem. Help cut and remove invasive shrubs and help keep the ecosystem functioning well Sunday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m.-noon. Meet us at the park entrance at the north end of Upland Drive, north of Plymouth Road (map). Preregister here.

Register today for ice skating, hockey skills lessons
Registration is underway for instructional skating and hockey lessons at Veterans Memorial Indoor Ice Arena. We have classes for for all ages and skill levels.   • A2ZERO scavenger hunt. Now that the weather has cooled, spend some time outdoors strolling around town learning about some of the sustainability features within our community by taking the A2ZERO Scavenger Hunt.
  • Solar group buy program. Join your neighbors and community members to learn all about solar and whether it could work for you.
