Pair of Ann Arbor students host fundraiser to help their classmates in need  

The numbers are shocking – poverty and homelessness in our front yard right here in Ann Arbor that impacts the lives of children walking the halls in our schools. According to the AAPS, 25 percent of students in Ann Arbor Public Schools face poverty on a yearly basis and hundreds of students experience homelessness.

Two Ann Arbor students are doing something to help their fellow classmates by organizing a fundraiser that has already raised hundreds of dollars for local students in need. Kata Bajcz, who will be a senior this year at Pioneer, and her friend, Izzy Sutton, who will be an eighth-grader this year at Slauson, are once again raising money through their Kids for Kids fundraiser program.

The Izzy & Kata Donation Drive is donating all of the money raised to help benefit Ann Arbor Public Schools most vulnerable families. They are collecting essential toiletries, back to school items, and gift cards for local homeless families and those in need.

After a strong start to the fundraiser – including an amazing $1,000 donation from an anonymous donor in the community – the dynamic duo has set a goal of $2,500. The deadline to donate is Aug. 6 so there is still time to help these students reach – or surpass – their goal.
