NSF Scrub Club will host events for kids at food distribution sites Oct. 15 & 19

Knowing this back-to-school season is unlike any other, NSF International’s NSF Scrub Club® will visit two AAPS food distribution sites this month, handing out free activities, resources, and prizes to parents and students.

The Scrub Club members will visit:

  • Carpenter Elementary from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 15.
  • Green Baxter Court Community Center, 1737 Green Road, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p .m. on Monday, October 19.

The Scrub Club is an educational tool for teachers and parents that teaches children ages three- to eight-year-old the importance of hand hygiene and the five steps of washing their hands.

The giveaway bags should contain:

  • Stickers, tattoos, nail brush and a postcard with an activity on one side and the hand washing steps on the other side.

“We think this information is very timely,” said Liz Margolis, the district’s executive director of Student & School Safety. “We will also be sharing their teacher support materials with elementary teachers in October.”

The Scrub Club website is full of educational materials for teachers and fun animated videos for kids on good hygiene, including this list of activities.  The website also features animated music videos, games, lesson plans, and printable worksheets and posters.
