The event will start at 5:30 PM with a Recovery-related Art Show in the lobby.

And conclude with a Screening & Panel Discussion – Addiction, Recovery and Breaking Down The Walls of Stigma at 7:00 PM in the Main Auditorium.

The story follows Detroit’s own Taylor “Machine Gun” Duerr, as he fights his way to a national boxing title inside the ring, while fighting the demons of his addiction and his battle with recovery outside of the ring.

This exciting local event includes:

  • 5:30 pm – Recovery-related art show featuring local artists

  • 7:00 pm – Documentary film screening of ‘We Can Be Heroes’ Directed by Mike Ramsdell

  • 8:15 pm – Panel discussion on addiction stigma moderated by the U-M Addiction Center

  • All attendees will receive a free copy of the workbook; I’m Still a Person: The Stigma of Substance Use & Power of Respect
