Huron Jazz Band selected as finalist for prestigious national jazz competition – they need your help

The Huron Jazz Band has been selected to compete in a prestigious national jazz competition in Georgia over spring break and needs the community’s help to get there.

The group has committed to go and is now raising money to help fund scholarships so everyone can make the trip.

The awarding-winning Rhythm Rat Jazz Orchestra will compete in the prestigious Savannah Swing Time Jazz Competition March 31 – April 3, 2020 in Savannah, Ga.

Swing Central Jazz is a three-day workshop and competition with a collective approach to big band jazz instruction. Led by pianist/composer/educator Marcus Roberts, the clinician team includes a wide range of jazz educators such as Jason Marsalis, Jim Ketch (Associate Director), Brianna Thomas and Wycliffe Gordon.

The Huron Jazz Band won the CMU jazz festival two years ago and the Western Michigan Jazz Festival last year.
