Golf: Skyline tops Huron, Monroe to improve to 10-0 on the season
While the weather is starting to warm up, the Skyline golf team has already been playing some hot golf and the ideal conditions are only improving the already impressive results on the Eagles’ perfect scorecard.
Skyline defeated Huron and Monroe in an SEC match at Washtenaw Golf Club on Wednesday. The Skyline varsity shot a 145 team score. The River Rats were second with a 174 followed by Monroe (202).
The Eagles improved to 10-0 on the season with two SEC matches left on the schedule – Monday against Pinckney and a rescheduled match with Saline and Dexter on Tuesday.
Freshman leuan Jones fired a top-score of 34 to lead the Eagles. Sophomore Mitchell Strickland, freshman Vibhav Alokam and senior Vimal Alokam all shot 37s for Skyline. Freshman Pete Roebuck carded a 46 and sophomore Lance Maugh shot a 48.
Junior Brendan Baidel led Huron with a 37. Senior Peter Hagan carded a 43 and senior Timothy Hamill shot a 46. Junior Bryce Yung and junior Kyle Messer both shot 48 for the River Rats. Senior Lute Smith shot a 53.
The Skyline JV team shot 172 to Huron’s 219 and Monroe’s 250. The young Eagles are 5-0 on the season.
Senior Adam Dooley and sophomore Andrew Eliason both shot a 41 to lead the Eagles. Junior Adam Cooke and freshman Charlie Eggleston both fired a 45.
Huron was led by freshman Brendan Hish, who fired a team-best 50. Victor Heskia, another freshman, and Andrew Ye both shot a 55. Rishab Jayaraman shot a 59.
