Golf: Pioneer edges Skyline in SEC tri-meet in Saline (WLAA photogallery)
Three of the top teams in the SEC Red Division teed it up on Thursday on a cloudy day at Brookside Golf Club in Saline. The course was quite wet after a day/night of rain but the players handled the conditions well posting some impressive scores.
Pioneer finished first in the tri-match with a team score of 168. Skyline finished a close second, carding a team score of 176. Saline finished third with a 190.
Two players broke 40 on the day. Pioneer’s Amaya Melendez and Skyline’s Adie Maki both shot a 39.
The rest of Pioneer’s scorecard featured Katie Liu (40), Sooah Jung (44), Mackenzie Rooney (45), Olivia Lyle (45) and Jillian Giordano (50).
The rest of Skyline’s scorecard featured Cammi Tirico (44), Nikki Lama (45), Evelynne Crumm (48), Alison Marshall (48) and Riya Patchava (59).
Sophie Wood led the Hornets with a 42. Katie Sloan and Sarah Richardson each shot a 49, Izzy Chehedi and Kitty Elieson each shot a 50 and Mia Seumance shot a 61.
On the JV side, Skyline’s Amber Hing fired a 48 and Yinan Miao shot a 49.
Crystal Kao fired a 52 to lead the Pioneer JV.
