Golf: Eagles land in top two spots at Dearborn Country Club

The Skyline golf team brought two varsity teams to Dearborn Country Club on Monday and the Eagles landed in first and second place among 15 teams.

“The depth of our team was evident today as we had three varsity teams going and our third held their own too at another tournament at Forest Lake CC,” said Skyline Coach Ashley Mantha.

Despite playing through another rainy Michigan spring day, the Skyline Blue Varsity shot 294 (par 72, 6 over par as a team) which was two strokes away from Skyline’s record 18 hole round of 292 (2014 Regionals).

The Skyline White Varsity shot 324 and finished second, only behind Blue Varsity and followed by Salem at 333. Saline and Grosse Ile also brought two teams.

Skyline also had TWO “Skyline Eagles” during the round. An eagle on No. 3 (471 yard par 5) by Mitchell Strickland and an eagle on No. 6 (505-yard par 5) by Ieuan Jones. The Eagles had the top four overall finishers on the day and five of the top six.
