Girls Swimming Rewind: Congratulations to the Huron River Rats

Six River Rat athletes competed this past weekend at the Holland Aquatic Center for the D1 State Championships. Individual podium-worthy top-16 finishers were sophomore Jasmine Xu (9^th in the 100 Breaststroke) and senior/captain Zannah Baker (14^th in the 50 Free).

The 200 Free Relay team of Xu, senior/captain Emma Kaipainen, sophomore Sawako Sakamoto and Baker finished 9^th, on top of the consolation heat, as did the 4 X 100 relay team of Baker, Kaipainen, Sakamoto, and Xu.  Ece Uyulur also represented Huron at the two-day meet.

Huron racked up 48 points for a 15th place finish. The River Rats are coached by Andrea Stanczyk, in her 9th season, and Jennifer “JZ” Zakrajsek, in at least her 20th.
