Girls Hockey: Pioneer scores 8-1 win over rival Skyron

Skyron scored the first goal on Wednesday night but rival Pioneer scored the next eight in an 8-1 win in women’s hockey at the Vet’s. Skyron (a combined team from Skyline and Huron) finished with 12 shots on goal compared to 27 for the Pioneers.

Skyron’s Ava Heung scored an unassisted goal at 3:42 of the first period to put her team ahead 1-0. The lead didn’t last long.

At 5:18, Pioneer’s Piper Campbell, from Rory Campbell, tied the game at 1-1. The Pioneers would score three more times in the first period to take a 4-1 lead. Anna Thomas scored twice (with assists on both goals from Kayleigh Barricklow) in less than 3 minutes to push the lead to 3-1. Barricklow scored an unassisted goal at 10:09 to make it 4-1.

Rory Campbell (unassisted) and Piper Campbell (from Rory Campbell) scored goals in the second period for the Pioneers.

In the third period, Alex Friedman and Senna Neubauer scored for Pioneer. Piper Campbell assisted both goals.
