Girls Cross Country: Pioneers win Portage Invitational; Skyline 23rd
Even with one of their top runners not making the
trip, the Pioneer girls’ cross country team ran away with the Portage
Invitational on Saturday. And it wasn’t even close.
The Pioneers finished with a tournament-best 93 points to finish first.
Northville was second (148) followed by Traverse City Central (158), St. Joseph
Academy (166) and Saline (172).
Skyline finished 23rd out of 37 teams.
Super sophomore Sarah Forsyth was second overall with a time of 17:47.5.
The Pioneers landed three other runners in the top 25 – sophomore Cookie Baugh
was 15th (18:43.6); sophomore Charlotte Batra was 21st
(18:56.5) and senior Anna Vogel was 23rd (19:06.2).
Junior Anna Dudek was 37th (19:29.1), freshman Emily Cooper was 102nd
(20:39.8) and senior Lydia Valtadoros was 120th (20:48.7).
Skyline was led by junior Laura O’Brien who placed 31st in 19:23.2.
