Girls Cross Country: Pioneer proves too elite for the field at MSU Invitational
The Pioneer girls’ cross country team remains on course and undefeated as the Pioneers scored an impressive victory against an impressive field on Friday in the Spartan Elite race at the MSU Invitational in East Lansing.
Pioneer finished with 42 points to crush the 23-team field.
Holland West Ottawa was a distant second with 122 points. Brighton was third (213), Hilliard Davidson was fourth (218) and East Grand Rapids fifth (220).
Pioneer had four runners finish in the top 10 led by sophomore Rachel Forsyth who was second in 17:48.3. Holland West Ottawa junior Arianne Olson took first in 17:28.5.
Rounding out the top 10 finishers for the Pioneers were senior Sarah Forsyth (seventh place, 18:44.6), junior Emily Cooper (8th, 18:47.9), and senior Cookie Baugh (9th, 18:51.0).
Sophomore Natalie Mello was 21st (19:23.7), senior Charlotte Batra was 33rd (19:59.4), junior Allison Nutt was 85th (21:17.7), freshman Clara Peikert was 171st (23:00.9), senior Emma Ahilbert was 181st (23:27.6), junior Naomi Kaczor was 182nd (23:28.0), senior Paige Hockley was 202nd (24:25.4) and junior Madeline Hood was 213th (25:19.6).
