Girls Basketball: River Rats rack up three more victories

The Huron girls’ basketball team dribbled into the new season with high expectations and so far so good for the talented River Rats.

Coach Scott Hunter’s team improved to 5-0 on the young season with three solid wins last week.

The River Rats defeated Wayne Memorial 67-58 on Tuesday to get the week rolling in the right direction. Siena Smith and Reeya Patel had huge games in the victory. Smith had a team-high 31 points while Patel had 25 points and eight rebounds. Jadyn Smith had seven rebounds in the win.

The River Rats had four players reach double-figures on Thursday in a 62-49 win over Arbor Prep. Patel had 16 points, Brooklynn Cooper scored 11, Jadyn Smith scored 10 and Khady Ba had 10 points along with 12 rebounds for a Huron double-double.

On Saturday, Huron defeated Flat Rock 61-45. Siena Smith had 17 points, Patel scored 13 while Jadyn Smith had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Huron plays at Chandler Park on Thursday.
