Girls Basketball: Pioneers race past Lincoln with “rivalry week” coming up
The Pioneer girls’ basketball team has a busy week coming up with two rivalry games (at Huron on Monday and home against Skyline on Thursday) and then a Saturday contest against visiting Monroe. The Pioneers are playing well and will be coming off a dominating 66-34 win Friday night over host Lincoln in an SEC contest.
This one was over as soon as it started. The Pioneers had the pedal down on the offensive end, scoring 22 points in the first quarter while holding the Railsplitters to just seven. Pioneer outscored their hosts 13-6 in the second quarter for a 35-13 halftime lead.
Pioneer won the third quarter 17-11 and the fourth quarter 14-10.
Seven Pioneer players scored six or more points in the win.
Lauren DeWolf scored nine of her game-high 17 points in the first quarter to help get the team rolling in the right direction. Brein Bogan hit a triple in the first quarter and finished with 11 points.
K’Dia Harris scored eight points, including two triples and Mya Hicks also delivered two three-pointers and finished with seven points. Felicia Stewart, Alexis Clark and Jackie Brines all scored six points for the Pioneers.
