Finalists Selected for the Ann Arbor City Attorney Search

After a thorough review of 20 applicants, two candidates were selected as finalists in the search for Ann Arbor’s new City Attorney by the Council at a special meeting on Monday, September 27.  Today, one finalist withdrew from consideration. The City Council will interview the finalist Atleen Kaur on Wednesday, October 6th. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting or watch the video link, available later on the City’s website.

Atleen Kaur has been a resident of Ann Arbor for 18 years. Through a variety of legal and leadership positions, including nine years as the VP, General Counsel and Compliance Officer at Yazaki North America and eight years at Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone she has had the opportunity to familiarize herself with various areas of law. Atleen is currently the Assistant General Counsel, Lead Counsel & Compliance Officer for Global Electronics & ADAS Division for ZF Group in Michigan.

Atleen has an artium baccalaureus in Economics from Harvard University and earned her law degree from the School of Law at Columbia University. Atleen was awarded Rising Star in 2008 by Michigan Super Lawyers, and is a member of the American Bar Association. Atleen is a founding member of the South Asian Bar Association of Michigan, and served as President of the association from 2008 to 2010. Atleen was also a graduate of the Leadership Ann Arbor program in 2008 and a former public member trustee of the City of Ann Arbor Retirement Systems.
